In the neck position, it adds bridge pickup to the neck sound, while in the bridge position, it adds neck pickup to the overall sound. Dialing down to zero gives you the traditional middle sound. The real magic happens in the mid to upper reaches, where you can subtly add bridge to neck or vice versa. The neck position with a bit of bridge added is great for rhythm playing, while the bridge pickup with a little neck added enhances the Tele’s Twang. The amount of blend is totally customizable, so you can explore endless tones.
You get everything you need in the kit, so you can get started right away. This Telecaster has some cool upgrades. It’s got Handwound pickups and a pre-wired harness with a special ‘Radioshop Telecaster Blender Mod’ attached to a cardboard mount. The knobs are loaded with USA-grade components that you can solder yourself, which will change your Tele’s tone. You can choose what pickups you want, too - Pure 50’s or pure 60’s style.
The neck pickup cover finish is Reverse Wound Polarity, and the knobs finish is ever Capacitors. You can even get a Treble Bleed Mod if you like. We went with the pure 60’s pickups and orange drop capacitors, and our Telecaster was totally revamped. We used most of our own knobs, as you can see in the photos.
The Blender System has a cool feature when you choose Reverse Wound Reverse Polarity (RWRP) via the Neck pickup menu. Usually, hum cancellation happens when both pickups are fully engaged in the middle position. But the Blender Mod catches this hum cancellation earlier, in the Bridge or Neck position, with minimal pickup interaction. This means you can cancel hum in all three positions, which is great for noisy situations.
