Vera Black is a London based fashion label run by Australian husband and wife team Vera Black & Luke Bourne. The Label takes inspiration from Vera & Luke’s extensive and long careers in the music industry. Read our story below.

Heritage

Our Roots

Vera, a powerhouse vocalist and Luke, guitarist & drummer. Together they wrote and released albums and won numerous international awards for songwriting, live performances and music videos. Vera first started designing and making pieces for herself to wear live on stage, when friends and fans encouraged her to share her wearable art, then Vera Black the brand was born.

Everything they produce has it’s origins in the experiences they have had collectively whilst touring the world and from their own personal connections with the 60’s & 70’s era of music and culture. Vera hails from New Zealand originally and uses reflections of her Maori heritage to inspire her more tribal elements of design work.

Vera Black has it’s roots on the streets of London, once trading for 4 years at the iconic Portobello Markets & Brick Lane, they then opened their first shop in Camden Market. Now with everything that has happened in recent times, they have moved Vera Black to be completely online.

Staying true to their musical roots, each year see’s the label taking their slice of Rock n. Roll heaven to a set of different music festivals around the UK for the ultimate VB experience. In the 5 years since hitting the streets of London, Vera Black’s designs are sold to customers from all around the globe and have attracted the attention of a myriad of Rock Stars & Celebrities including Johnny Depp, Twisted Sister’s Dee Snyder, Tom Hardy, Robert Plant, Eva Green, Adam Ant, Matt Bellamy(Muse), Model Elle Evens, The Struts, Dougie Poynter (McFly), Actress Isabel Lucas, Danny Trejo, Lady Antebellum, The Shires, Louisa (X-Factor), The Veronicas & The Crystal Fighters. All Vera Black’s designs are handmade by our small team in our London workshop, using all ethically sourced feathers, materials & vegan suede.
