"The journey was like I needed to eat, and slide came in and I just kept working to refine it." - Keb Mo
About being at A&M Records, what was interesting to me is that there were session players who, if they weren't doing anything, would come and play demos. So, that was always good because I got to work with some great drummers, bass players, and keyboard players, who were working on top sessions and would sometimes come in and play with the demo guys. So, it was great. That time at A&M Records and Irving Almo music when I was on the demo squad, as we used to call it, that was my college.

Mick Mars takes fans to “The Other Side of Mars” with his new solo album!"
Chris Collier was introduced to me by Ray Luzier of Korn and Chris does a lot of the Korn albums.  For recording I used Michael Wagener, who actually started on “Too Fast for Love.”  I met him through Dokken.  But the guy that recorded that record didn’t record it very well, so I called in Michael.  And I’ve worked with him for over 4 decades now.

"I aspire to leave a legacy in this world like Jimmi Hendrix has done, and continues to do." - Eric Gales
Eric Gales is a blues firebrand. Over 30 years and 18 albums, his passion for the music and his boundless desire to keep it vital has never waned, even when his own light dimmed due to his substance struggles. Throughout it all, he continued to reinvigorate the art form with personal revelation in his lyrics and bold stylistic twists in his guitar playing and songwriting.

Photo credit: Lucinda Wickham Some writers in the 1950s distinguished covers (where an artist did their own version of a song) from mere copies (where an artist tries to sound exactly like the original track). As the term entered popular usage, though, this distinction faded. Often, they will refer to them as cover version, remake, […]

"It’s hard to be objective talking about myself, but I’ve always been personally drawn to the raw vocal quality in the artists I listen to." - Troy Redfern
BY Edward Schooley - Editor In Chief
Photo credit: Jason Bridges Rawness - A 'raw' voice is basically an unrefined voice, though I don't mean 'unrefined' in a pejorative sense. Rather it sounds like your voice isn't smooth but has a sort of inherent grit to the tonality. You hear this term used all the time. Especially on the T.V. shows that […]
